Williams Brothers was contracted by the Texas Department of Transportation to build this $10.7M concrete segmental bridge. It crosses the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway with a 350-foot main span, featuring a cast-in-place, balanced cantilever construction. The single cell box girder has a deck width of 51 feet and was cast using form travelers.
Total segmental length is 740’ (195’, 350’, and 195’). The remaining portion of the 26 span bridge is made up of 142’ Type VI Modified Prestressed Girders. All segments were single celled, varying in depth from 19’ at the pier tables to 8’ at the end segments or closure segment. Post tensioning consisted of 4 strand transverse tendons, 12 strand longitudinal tendons and 12 or 20 strand continuity tendons.
WB successfully collaborated with TxDOT, and stakeholders to complete the Quintana Beach Bridge construction on schedule and within budget. Part of SH 332, an evacuation route for local residents, the bridge was an essential link to the mainland from the barrier island.
